HF Systems Engineering GmbH & Co. KG, as part of HÜBNER Photonics, is proud to contribute key technologies to the European Union’s Horizon 2020 ULTRAWAVE project.
The consortium comprising of 4 European Universities, 4 industrial and research facilities throughout Europe aims, for the first time, at the development of technology enabling exploitation of the entire millimetre wave spectrum beyond 100 GHz for wireless data transmission.
ULTRAWAVE planned mission time is 3 years and was granted in direct succession of its predecessor project TWEETHER.
The ULTRAWAVE concept is to create an ultra-capacity wireless layer, aiming to achieve the 100 gigabits of data per second threshold, which is also flexible and easy to deploy. This layer will be able to feed data to hundreds of small and pico cells, regardless of the density of mobile devices in each cell. This achievement would open scenarios for new network paradigms and architectures towards fully implementing 5G.
HF Systems Engineering GmbH & Co. KG, with excellent expertise in millimetre wave technologies, will take the leading role in the integration of D-band (140 GHz) and G-band (300 GHz) transmit/receive systems and contribute to the fabrication of D-band and G-band high-power travelling wave tubes.
